Robert Wayne Mitchell, 76, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by his family.

He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church where he had belonged to the Men's Club and volunteered with Outreach.  Wayne had served as Postmaster at the Henderson Post Office.  He had been a member of Henderson Rotary Club and served on the board of Father Bradley Women's Shelter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Nellie Mitchell.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sondra; two daughters, Laura Mitchell Gabe and her husband, John, and Brandi Mitchell, both of Henderson, Kentucky; two grandsons, Mitchell Gabe (Tara) and Matthew Gabe (Abby), both of Henderson, Kentucky; four great-grandchildren, Adley, Deacon, Austyn Kate, and Lucy; and a niece, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be at noon Thursday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.  Father Larry McBride and Father J. Edward Bradley will officiate.  Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and until 11 a.m. Thursday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mitchell Gabe, Matthew Gabe, John Gabe, Barry Green, Tracy Green, and Chris Green.
