Sue Ann
Kestler Kuerzi
Mar 13, 1943 — Aug 17, 2026
Henderson
Sue Ann Kestler Kuerzi, 83, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 17, 2026, at Deaconess Henderson Hospital in Henderson.
Sue faced many physical problems with multiple cancers, an amputation, and a stroke, but she was a warrior physically, mentally, and in prayer, and always full of hope.
Born on March 13, 1943, in Louisville Kentucky, to the late Marcella (Susie) and Bill (Red) Kestler, she grew up playing and excelling in all sports. One day, playing tennis in high school, a good-looking St. Xavier High School student, named Paul, played next to her. Sue came home and announced, "I'm going to marry that boy"- and she did! They married June 27, 1964, and spent 62 years loving and building a life together.
Sue and Paul moved about as Paul accepted different offers at horse racetracks throughout the South. Always bubbly and busy, Sue quickly adapted to each location and made a home for her family. Bill was born on May 10, 1966, and life was never the same. Jennee came along on June 12, 1969, and their little family was complete.
Sue was a beloved and creative woman who touched the hearts of everyone she worked with and brought joy through her love of crafts, positive spirit, and good humor. She loved traveling the world with her sister, Rosie. Sue was a devoted prayer warrior (with a self-stated direct line to God) and a faithful member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Henderson for 23 years.
She will be remembered always as an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Paul Douglas Kuerzi; their son, William Louis and wife, JJ, of LaGrange, Georgia; their daughter, Jennifer Hines and husband, Nat, of Winnsboro, South Carolina; her sister, Rosie Durham; and her niece, Rebekah Durham Rettig of Birmingham, Alabama.
She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren and crafting buddies, Emily Markunas and husband, Nick, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Lauren Holmes and her husband, Jamarkis, of LaGrange, Georgia, Madeline Hines of Seattle, Washington, Elizabeth Hines of Berlin, New Jersey, and Jackson Kuerzi and his fiancé, Macie Lambert, of LaGrange, Georgia. Additionally, Sue cherished her time with her great-grandchildren, Maisie and Jack Hines and Kyson Holmes.
Everyone who knew Sue has a favorite funny story- just ask them.
Her Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Holy Name of Jesus Church Catholic Church in Henderson Kentucky. Father Larry McBride will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery in Henderson, Kentucky.
