Sandra Dean Simmons Heppler, 81, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Monday, June 10, 2024, at her home.

She was born October 31, 1942, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to the late Robert Edward and Minnie Belle Jaynes Simmons.  Sandra was a graduate of Henderson Community College, University of Southern Indiana, and Western Kentucky University, earning an Associate in Applied Science, a Bachelor of Social Work, and a Master of Arts in Education. She was recognized by the Kentucky State Board both as a clinical alcohol and drug counselor and a social worker.  She worked until 81 years old in these fields and spent other free time volunteering with groups at Chapel Hill Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Bruce Heppler; one son, Robert Joe Heppler; and her sister-in-law, Carole Heppler Mitchell.

Survivors include her son, Steven Glenn Heppler of Henderson, Kentucky; two sisters, Donna Kay Richardson and her husband, Billy, and Toni Lynn Windhaus and her husband, Rick, all of Henderson, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Shala Dean Heppler of Henderson, Kentucky; and nieces and nephews, including Dara James and her husband, Troy.

Services will be at noon Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.  The Reverend Mike Snyder will officiate.  Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2024, and 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
