Rebecca "Becky" Burnette, 73, of Derby, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

She was born in Florence, Alabama, on July 1, 1950, to the late Otha Cleveland Collier and Eliza Louise (Adams) Collier.  Becky joined the United States Army in February 1972 and met the love of her life Ed.  She was released from the Army to join her husband in Thailand.  She then later joined the Department of The Army Civil Service in October 1976 and retired after 33 years of dedicated service to our Country.  After retirement, she and her husband continued to serve their country by helping their son, son-in-law and daughter by stepping in as primary care givers, at any moment's notice, due to temporary duties and deployments.  Anyone Becky met she considered family and was referred to by many as momma.

​            She was preceded in death by her parents, Otha and Eliza Collier; one brother, Joe Collier; three sisters, Elizabeth Balentine Nix, Linda Cummings, and Hattie Heupel; and one stepson, Rodney Burnette.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Eddie "Ed" Burnette, of Morganfield, Kentucky; two children, William Travis Burnette and Gina Hardsaw (Brent); three grandchildren, Steven Burnette (Lily), Alyssa Hardsaw, and Ethan Hardsaw; one great-granddaughter, Masilee Rae Burnette; two sisters, Emma Jean Stowe and Marie Hargett; and many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, 604 Center Street, Henderson, Kentucky 42420.  Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield, Kentucky, with full military rites performed by Ft. Campbell Military Honors Detail and American Legion Worsham Post No. 40.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2024, and until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
