Raymond A. Shelton, 70, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Monday, November 18, 2019, at Methodist Hospital.

He was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran.  Raymond was a retired oil field hand.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and watching television with his dog, Ethel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Huston and Della Pearl Koontz Shelton; two brothers, Jim Shelton and Ed Shelton; and three sisters, Rose Williams, Patricia Sozio, and Sondra Kay Shelton.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Paula Saalwaechter Shelton; one son, Jeffrey R. Shelton of Henderson, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Maggie Elizabeth Driskell and her husband, Shane, of Henderson, Kentucky; one great-grandson, Nolan Jace Driskell of Henderson, Kentucky; one sister, Jannett Gentry and her husband, Larry, of Niagara, Kentucky; two brothers, Kenneth Shelton of Henderson, Kentucky, and Ed Oglesby and his wife, Mina, of Florida; many nieces and nephews; and his lifelong friend, Ernie Blake of Louisville, Kentucky.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.  The Reverend Alan Chamness will officiate.  Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery with full military rites performed by American Legion Worsham Post No. 40.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and until service time Friday at the funeral home.
