Ralph Melton Powell, 90, of Little Dixie, Kentucky, died at 4:06 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2017, at St. Anthony's Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center.

He was a member of Dixie United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school for 58 years.  He graduated from Corydon High School and attended Western Kentucky University.  Ralph was a lifelong farmer and was superintendant at Corydon State Highway garage.  He also worked at Poole Milling Company and AVP.  He was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Janet Melton Powell, who died December 7, 2012; his parents, John William and Dora Ellen Melton Powell; and one grandson, Wesley Powell.

Survivors include two daughters, Becky Powell Bugg of Henderson, Kentucky, and Sandra Kay Woodard of Little Dixie, Kentucky; two sons, Ralph Steven Powell and his wife, Sarah, and Alan Vincent Powell, and his wife, Karin, both of Little Dixie, Kentucky; three sisters, Waleska Westerman of Muldraugh,  Kentucky, Edna Westerman of Sebree, Kentucky, and the Reverend Martha McKown of Henderson, Kentucky; one brother, the Reverend Eugene Powell of Henderson, Kentucky; six grandchildren;  seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.  The Reverend Chad Johnson and the Reverend Martha McKown will officiate.  Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole, Kentucky, with full military rites performed by American Legion Worsham Post No. 40.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
