Obituary

Nettie P. Gordon, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.  She was 93.

Nettie was the only daughter born to Fred and Louise Thomason and grew up on the family farm in Guthrie, Kentucky, alongside seven brothers: Fred Jr., Wendell, Bill, Gene, James, Carl, and Toby.  She married Kenneth Pinkston (deceased in 1968), with whom she had daughter Debbie and son Jimmy, and later married Stewart Gordon.

Nettie was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, six brothers, and her son Jimmy.

She is survived by her brother, Toby; her daughter, Debbie Heath and her husband, Harley; and her grandchildren, Jim Heath, Sarah Heath Smithhart and her husband, Chet, and Rachel Heath.

Nettie was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and worked in varied jobs, including factories and the school system, but she most identified with being a caregiver for the children of friends and family.  She enjoyed traveling with her family and her grandchildren but was always happy to get back to Kentucky - especially during basketball season.  She had an incredible work ethic and moved and drove at a rapid pace, allowing her to wring 25 hours from each day.  She will be missed every day, but her wisdom will always come to mind.  She endured tragedies in her life but still found joy.  Independence was thrust upon her at a relatively young age and rather than shrink from it she pushed forward every day and figured things out.  She was typically right in all situations, and it was best to acquiesce to that quickly.  She was competitively proud of her grandchildren.

To all who loved her she was simply known as Nan. Rest in peace, Nan.
