Nancy Elizabeth
(O’Nan) Fedors
Apr 15, 1933 — Mar 23, 2022
Nancy Elizabeth (O'Nan) Fedors went to Heaven on March 23, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital (formerly St. Mary's) with her daughter holding her in her arms.
Nancy was born April 15, 1933, in Corydon, KY, at her family's home to James Phillip and Ruby Gibson O'Nan.
Nancy will forever be remembered for her exceptional kindness, generosity, charm, beauty, compassion, humor, and strong spirit. She had a beautiful sweet smile, contagious laugh, and possessed the ability to make anyone feel at home in her presence.
She believed in helping others in need and wanting to be a positive influence in others' lives. She knew exactly what to say to comfort those around her and was incredibly wise and witty. She was someone you could confide in, open up to, and talk to, without judgment. She knew how to handle negative situations with grace and inspire others to stay strong no matter the circumstances. She had an unmistakable enthusiasm for life and looked for ways to find the positive and beauty in everything.
She enjoyed having a beautiful garden full of flowers and grew the best tomatoes. She loved admiring her hard work while sitting out on the swing in the sunshine. She was a great decorator, excellent cook, seamstress, and loved to bake (often in excessive amounts for family gatherings, enough for an army as they would say).
One of her greatest joys in life was the time spent with her granddaughter, who is her namesake, Nancy Elizabeth, often referred to as "little Nancy." They were so much the same, inseparable, and shared countless beautiful moments together filled with laughter and absolute joy. They have an incredibly special bond that "little Nancy" will forever cherish.
After graduating from Corydon High School in 1951, Nancy worked at Camp Breckinridge during the Korean War. She had dinner with Fess Parker and rode in his convertible while he was in the area filming the Davy Crockett movie. After graduating from Lockyear Business College, she was an executive secretary in commercial lending at Permanent Federal. Other jobs included Henderson County State Bank Corydon, Diplomat Men's Clothing Store salesperson and alterations in Henderson, ATT operator in Owensboro, Diet Center counselor, Pearl Dry Cleaners Evansville (where she was the first person who operated the embroidery machines), cleaned houses for new construction contractors, and Young and Conway Morganfield. The job that we treasure her for the most was caring for and helping to raise her granddaughter Nancy while mom was at work.
She was preceded in death by husband, Pete; sons, Lane Allen and Shane O'Nan Fedors; siblings, James Vernon O'Nan (Dorothy), Gladys Regina Bassett (Gene), Huston Hurley O'Nan, Tressie Jewel Key (Reeves), Sidney Carroll O'Nan, Sr., and Herschel Ray O'Nan (Hattie) along with their parents.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Laurie Fedors Thomason Berry; her granddaughter, Nancy Berry; her brother, Bob O'Nan; sister-in-law, Charlotte O'Nan (wife of Sidney); great friends, Odie Abell Mays, Sue Gayle Parrish, and Thomas Martin; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2022, at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. Larry Gibson (son Lane's friend) will officiate and Larry Barnes (niece Jean's husband) will sing. He will be accompanied by Bob Legate.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Friday, April 15, 2022, at the funeral home.
