Henderson
Mildred "Midge" Louise Stribling, 83, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024, at St. Anthony's Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center with her loving family at her side.
She was born August 21, 1940, in Calhoun City, Mississippi, to the late Earl and Agnes Leasor. Midge moved to Henderson at an early age. She was a lifelong and active member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, serving in many ministries. Midge was a longtime educator beginning her career at Holy Name School and retiring from the Henderson County School System after 28 years of service as a first grade teacher. After a very short retirement, she joined the Migrant/HOME Program with the Henderson County School System as Program Coordinator. Her passion for education impacted hundreds of Henderson youth. Two of her proudest accomplishments included the National Association of State Directors of Migrant Education as an outstanding professional in 2016 and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Owensboro Sophia Award for distinguished service in 2019. Most important to Midge was her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles Noel Stribling, Sr.; two sisters, Barbara Jean Wilson and Betty Brown; and one brother, William "Buddy" Leasor.
Survivors include two children, Charles Noel "Chuck" Stribling, Jr., of Frankfort, Kentucky, and Missy Patton and her husband, Mike, of Henderson, Kentucky; one brother, Everett Leasor and his wife, Mary, of Bowling Green, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Mackenzie Herting and her husband, Andy, of Lexington, Kentucky, Molly Lee of Henderson, Kentucky, Colburn Montgomery of Lexington, Kentucky, Cady Stribling of Frankfort, Kentucky, and Meg Patton of Henderson, Kentucky; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at noon Friday, August 16, 2024, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Father Richard Meredith will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery.
