Mary Jo Griffee, 86, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at UofL – Mary and Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

She was born August 13, 1938, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Richard and Dorothy Newton.  Mary Jo was very personable having never met a stranger which is why she excelled in her career as receptionist.  Most important to her was her family who deeply loved her as much as she did them.  Mary Jo sang to each of her family members especially at family gatherings with her siblings.  She was a faithful woman and a devoted member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Griffee; two brothers, Tommy Newton and Paul Newton; her son-in-law, Kevin Marlin; her grandson, Zachary Marlin; and her great-grandson, Kathan Pritchett.

Survivors include her children, Michael Griffee of Henderson, Kentucky, Joanie Griffee of Louisville, Kentucky, and Deanna Marlin of Evansville, Indiana; four siblings, Richard "Dick" Newton and his wife, Sue, Patsy Henderson, Marie Watkinson, and Donnie Newton and his wife, Judy; seven grandchildren, Shannon Griffee, Maggie Denton and her husband, Thomas, Ericka Hatfield and her husband, Tom, Alan Pritchett and his wife Jennifer, Megan Marlin, Joseph Marlin and his wife, Chelsy, and Amanda Lythgoe and her husband, Tyler; fourteen great-grandchildren, Nia, Ashton, Blake, Megan, Mallory, Gabe, Gatlin, Brynlee, Tucker, Jerzi, Tinsley, Ronan, Rozalynn, and Keira; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.  Deacon Richard Beaven will officiate.  Private family inurnment will be in St. Louis Cemetery Columbarium.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
