Mary-Catherine Hacker Gilliam, 93, of Owensboro, Kentucky, formerly of Henderson, Kentucky, died at her home at Fern Terra in Owensboro, Kentucky, on Thursday, June 8, 2017.

She was born on August 8, 1923 in Oneida, Kentucky, the seventh child of Henry Martin Hacker and Nora Brewer Hacker.  She taught school for 20 years.  The last ten years she taught in Henderson County, Kentucky, after her girls were in college.

For over 62 years, Mary-Catherine was married to her college sweetheart, A. J., who died November 20, 2006.  They had two daughters, Gayle and Amy.  Her siblings were Helen, Winton, Thersa, Bertha, Martha, Julius, and Joe.

Survivors include two daughters, Gayle Rutledge and her husband, Mark, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Amy Pike and her husband, Michael, of Owensboro, Kentucky; three grandsons, Ryan Rutledge and wife, Alex, of Fairview, Tennessee, Derek Rutledge and wife, Sarah, of Denver, Colorado, and Ethan Rutledge and wife, Whitney, of Denver, Colorado; two great-grandchildren, Carter and Penelope Rutledge; one niece and two nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home in Henderson, Kentucky.  The Reverend Martha McKown and the Reverend James Wofford will officiate.  Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, Kentucky.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday and until service time Monday at the funeral home.
