Martha Dean Tapp Penry, 72, of Henderson, Kentucky, was Promoted to Glory at 12:18 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017, surrounded by her loving family and friends at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, Indiana.

She was the Corps Sergeant Major at The Salvation Army at the Henderson, Kentucky Corps.   She spent her life as a social service counselor helping others for the Glory of God with a focus on children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Earl Penry, who died July 19, 1999; her parents, Opal Meredith "Pappy" and Mary Elizabeth Tapp; and two brothers, John Calvin Tapp and Opal Layson Tapp.

Survivors include one daughter, Michele Lynn Penry of Henderson, Kentucky; one son, Michael Lee Penry of Henderson, Kentucky; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; cousins; nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.  Lieutenant and Mrs. Jason Quinn will officiate.  Burial will be in Uniontown City Cemetery in Uniontown, Kentucky.
