Linda Joyce
Jamison
May 9, 1943 — Oct 15, 2023
Henderson, Kentucky, formerly of Evans
Joyce Jamison, 80, of Henderson, Kentucky, formerly of Evans, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at St. Anthony's Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center with her family at her side.
Joyce was born in Bessemer, Alabama, on May 9, 1943, to the late Melba Ross Thomas and Damon Louis Thomas. She was very patriotic having grown up in a strong military family and had a deep love and appreciation for all veterans. As a military child and wife, she was afforded the opportunity to travel extensively, including England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Israel, Alaska, and many U.S. States. During her eight years in Alaska, she often had to travel by helicopter to remote areas over glaciers to meet with service members regarding the needs of their families back home. Her love for our troops and veterans lead her to work with the Department of Veterans Affairs during Desert Storm in the physical therapy department at Augusta VA Medical Center from where she retired. Joyce loved animals and was especially fond of her grandkitties, Harvey and Cosmo. Throughout her life, her Christian faith comforted her, and she could often be heard leading mealtime prayers with The Lord's Prayer. Besides her faith and love of country, Joyce was most proud of her family especially her grandson, Harry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Mack Harris, and her second husband, Ronnie M. Jamison.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandi Hazelwood and her husband, Brad, of Henderson, Kentucky; one grandson, Harry Hazelwood of Evansville, Indiana; and two close friends, Cindy and Virginia of Georgia.
Private family services will be held at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. The Reverend Alan Chamness will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Anthony's Hospice.
