Obituary

Leonora Joy Schweitzer "LJ" was born on February 19th, 2024, at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.  At six months old, on September 4th, 2024, she ran off to be with Jesus after she peacefully took her last breath in the arms of her Mommy and Daddy.

Leonora loved to nuzzle her sweet face on the shoulder of her daddy.  It was her safe place.  She was lovingly named after her amazing daddy, Robert "Trey" Leonard Schweitzer III.  Her mother, Leslie Schweitzer (Shoulders) spent every moment of Leonora's life at her side providing the most love and care to LJ as she fought to live with a special heart.  Despite all the medical challenges, Leonora danced through it all with a smile and provided a lifetime of joy to her three proud big sisters, Ruby Leola (5), Landri Sue (4), and Sally Jane (2).  She had many family members cheering her on and praying for her including her grandparents, Paul and Denise (Dixon) Shoulders and Robby and Melody (Krogman) Schweitzer.  LJ had many special aunts and uncles - Kelly (Zac) Gardner, Morgan (Hannah) Schweitzer, Sarah (Alex) Taylor.  Her living great-grandparents loved her as well as they loved her Mommy and Daddy - Thomas and Donna Dixon, Norma Schweitzer, Betty Bowers, and Dorothy Shoulders.  Leonora is lucky to be greeted in heaven by her great grandpa's, Rayburn Shoulders, Robert Schweitzer Sr, and Gene Bowers.  The list could go on of the many family and friends that loved Leonora Joy even if they didn't have the opportunity to meet her face to face yet.

Leonora lived her six beautiful months in Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House of Greater Cincinnati, and at home on the family farm in Corydon, KY.  She had the sweetest smile and biggest eyes that would melt anyone's heart the moment they walked in her room.  She had two wonderful single ventricle interstage nurses, Kayla and Laurel, many doctors, nurses, providers, and medical staff that cared for her and loved watching the joy radiate from her tiny body.  LJ loved her blue teething toy, watching dancing fruit on YouTube, laughing at the dancing pineapple, swatting at her toys on her play gym, singing along with her Mommy, snuggling Daddy, and smiling as she watched her sisters sing and dance around her.  She is a very loved little girl that impacted many with the joy that we know our Lord and Savior instilled in her. Leonora Joy Schweitzer, we love you, we're proud of you and we're lucky to be your parents.

Leonora's life will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024, at Zion Baptist Church, where visitation for friends and family will be from noon to 3 p.m. with a service beginning at 3p.m.

LJ's ashes will be spread on her family farm in Corydon, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make contributions to Leonora's Joyful Heart Foundation, 3793 State Route 266, Corydon, Kentucky 42406 or at Field and Main Bank or online at https://everloved.com/life-of/leonora-schweitzer/ .  We strongly believe Leonora's life has a purpose to help babies and families like ours going through the single ventricle interstage period and we hope to give back to them.
