Kathy Sue
Patterson Satterfield
Apr 8, 1956 — Jun 18, 2018
Henderson
Kathy Sue Patterson Satterfield, born April 8, 1956, passed away peacefully at the age of 62 at 8:15 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2018, after battling breast cancer for over 7 years, surrounded by her loving family at Saint Anthony's Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center.
Kathy was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
Kathy's biggest joys in life included being with her family, especially during the holidays, and watching her sons, Todd and Shane, and grandson, Alec, play baseball and basketball. Kathy's many talents included writing inspirational stories about her family, her own struggles with cancer, and that of her beloved son, Todd Alan, who passed away from esophageal cancer in 2013.
Kathy grew up in Geneva, Kentucky, and held her first job at Patterson's Grocery, her family's store. Kathy was a born leader and hard worker who never missed one day of school from the first through the twelfth grade, graduated cum laude of the 1974 Henderson County High School (HCHS) class of nearly 400, was awarded the HCHS 1974 GOLD Hall of Fame Award in history, and was voted by her senior class Most Likely to Succeed. Kathy was also honored to have been a member of the very first HCHS Colonelette dance team.
Kathy began her work career working part time at Sears and then in 1975 began working as a legal secretary for Lee Allen Rhoads, George Baker and later with Dane Shields. In 1983, Kathy joined the Accuride family (formerly Firestone) as the plant manager's executive assistant and later, after earning her bachelor's degree, served as Quality Coordinator.
Kathy enjoyed playing solitaire, watching movies on the Hallmark channel, taking vacations at Kentucky Lake or Destin, Florida, playing games like Catch Phrase, Yahtzee, or Bunco and shopping for gifts for her family members. Kathy's beautiful smile, soft sweet voice, and heart of gold was loved and will be missed by many.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father Leonard Patterson and son Todd Alan.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, William "Bud" Satterfield; her son, Shane Satterfield (Caroline); her grandchildren, Alec William, Cecilia Todd, Eleanor Elizabeth, and Harrison Boyd Satterfield; her mother, Ann Sauer Patterson; her sister, Janice Haile (Jeff); two brothers, Ralph and Ron Patterson; her sister-in-law, Donna Copeland; her former daughter-in-law, Allison Satterfield; nephews, Stephen (Leslee) Haile, Ryan (Kristen) Haile, and Cameron Patterson; nieces, Lyndsey Patterson Kellen and Shelly Wyatt; and many great aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Father J. Edward Bradley will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery.
