Kentucky born and bred, Kathryn W. Hazelwood passed from this earthly life on July 9, 2026, at the age of 90, while in hospice care at the St. Anthony's Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson, Kentucky, her lifelong hometown.

Kathryn enjoyed a long and successful career as a legal secretary, mostly at Henderson's King, Deep, and Branaman.  Her outstanding abilities earned her the title of Kentucky Legal Secretary of the Year.

In her limited spare time, Kathryn enjoyed the buffet at the Moonlite in Owensboro, Kentucky, and relaxing in her pool, always with a glass of iced tea at her side.  She was an avid viewer of PBS' Masterpiece Theater, especially the murder mysteries (in print, as well).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilton.

Survivors include her brother, Chester P. Watson, Jr. (Julie); her son, Owen Hazelwood (Beth); her daughter, Tonia Hazelwood (Craig Ross); her sister-in-law, Janice Perry; her brother-in-law, Ken Hazelwood (Dianne); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Community Baptist Church in Henderson.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Anthony Hospice or The Friends of the Henderson County Public Library are appreciated.
