Obituary

Karen Sue Haynes Denton, 76, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022, at North Park Nursing Center in Evansville, Indiana.

She was born August 27, 1945, in Henderson, Kentucky.  Karen was a loving wife, mother, and Mommo Kay.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Bill; her sons, Brian and Kurt; grandchildren, Abbie and her husband, Nathan, Keely and her husband Chase, Carter and Finley; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Wyatt and Grace; sisters and nephews.

Karen spent many hours cheering, watching, correcting officials and driving her children and grandchildren to ballfields and basketball courts for practice, games, and performances over the years.  She spent hours in lawn chairs and on bleachers cheering for her kids, grandkids, and their teams.  Karen also loved her collies and spoiled them as much as she could.  She enjoyed living in the county on part of the farm where she was raised and spent many hours exploring it with her grandchildren.  Karen loved entertaining family and friends with her wonderful recipes on Thanksgiving and Christmas.  She passed those recipes down for all of us to continue to enjoy.

Karen worked for many years in Patient Registration at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, where she always had a running supply of Hoosier jokes to keep her Indiana co-workers in line.  She retired from Deaconess in 2000 to start her own antiquing business where she had keen eye for finding antiques, but too big of a heart to part with many.  Karen was also a huge fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats and enjoyed many games in March following the 'Cats in person at the SEC and NCAA tournaments.

Karen will be deeply missed by those that love her and know her. Although there is sadness for all of us, she would want us to celebrate the life full of love and laughter that we were lucky enough to have shared with her.

There will be private family dinner and a celebration of life gathering at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to New Hope Animal Rescue Center to honor Karen's life.
