John Bumgardner, III, 72, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Deaconess Henderson Hospital.

He was a member of Henderson General Baptist Church.  John was born in Henderson County, Kentucky, to the late John Bumgardner, Jr., and Ora Frances Logan Bumgardner.  He was a retired coal miner with Peabody Coal Squaw Creek Mine.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Margaret Louise Bumgardner, who died August 9, 2017; and three infant sons, twins Jacob and Joshua, and James.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Watkins Barron Bumgardner; one son, Jason Bumgardner and his wife, Jenny, of Boonville, Indiana; four grandchildren, Hunter and Pierce West and Kolton and Jayse Bumgardner; two sisters, Sandra Melloy and Lori Anne Bumgardner, both of Henderson, Kentucky; two brothers, James "Randy" Bumgardner of Franklin, Tennessee, and Robert E. Bumgardner of Henderson, Kentucky; nieces and nephews; and cousins.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Henderson General Baptist Church.  The Reverend Chad Hensley will officiate.  Private burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana.
