Jo Ann Carter Wilkerson, 81, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Monday, July 10, 2017, at home.

She was born in Henderson on January 28, 1936.  Jo Ann graduated Barrett Manuel High School and received an Associate Degree from Evansville School of Banking.  She was partner in Wilkerson's Shoes and Homecrafters Paint and Glass.  She was an avid gardener having received multiple awards from the Henderson Garden Club.  Jo Ann was a cancer survivor of 28 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Stella Gish Carter; one sister, Anna Roger Carter; and one brother, Bobby Carter.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Owen K. Wilkerson; two sons, O. Carter Wilkerson and his wife, Dena, of Henderson, Kentucky, and J. Brent Wilkerson and his wife, Wendy, of Robards, Kentucky; one sister, Doris June Reed of Henderson, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Katie Wilkerson, Abbie Walters and her husband, Alex, Tanner Wilkerson, Anne-Tyler Wilkerson, Connor Wilkerson; one great-grandchild, Carter Claire Wilkerson; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at noon Friday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. The Reverend Alan Chamness will officiate.  Private family burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
