Obituary

Jerry L. Hendrickson was born on April 9, 1937, in Union County, Kentucky, and went to his eternal glory on October 28, 2021, after a brief battle with ALS.

Jerry was raised on a farm and had to grow up before his time.  He often served as a protector for his brothers and sisters.  Although faced with obstacles as a child, Jerry grew into a man who was a good provider, a loving father, and a man of faith.

Jerry was a life-long learner.  Although primarily self-taught, he was well versed on many subjects and was a man of many skills.  One of his best decisions was to marry Dorothy Holder on July 2, 1964.  Together, they raised two sons.  Jerry was proud of his boys and loved them deeply.  But nothing compared to the love he had for his only granddaughter.

Jerry was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Henderson.  Jerry loved the Lord and he spent a lot of time expressing to anyone who would listen that each day is a blessing from God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyndle and Sarah (née Graves) Hendrickson; and his siblings, Donald, Joseph, Bill, Tommy, and Mary Fran.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Hendrickson; his sister, Becky (Norm) Miller; his sons, Scott and Kevin (Paula); and his beloved granddaughter, Marissa.  He is also survived by bonus granddaughters, Alyssa Schutte, Kendra (Riley) Reynolds and their daughter Khloe, and Jada Cullum. Several nieces and nephews also survive, as do a long list of friends.

A celebration of life will be held at Zion Baptist Church, 8158 HWY 351 East, Henderson, Kentucky 42420, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021.

Friends may visit with family from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in Jerry's memory be made to Zion Baptist Church.  Please indicate "chair fund" or "Jerry Hendrickson" on the memo line.

Jerry would want you to rejoice that he is out of pain and once again whole and in the arms of the Lord.  He would want you to consider the words from John 14:6 "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."  Rest easy, Jerry.  Your work here is finished.  Well done, good and faithful servant.
