James "Jim" Frank Vincent, 82, of Robards, Kentucky, passed on Friday, July 31, 2026, after a brief illness at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Holly Perry Vincent; his sons, James Vincent, Jr. (Theresa) of Evansville, Indiana, Bryce Vincent (Melie) of Timnath, Colorado, Kyle Vincent (Rachel) of Louisville, Kentucky, and Matthew Vincent (Kiaya) of Buford, Georgia; his grandchildren, Audrey Vincent, James Frank Vincent, III, Maxine Vincent (Cameron), Norah Vincent, Montgomery Vincent, and Sebastian Vincent; his great-grandson, Roland Vincent. He is also survived by his half-sister, Cindy Lovvorn (David), along with Thrun and Vincent cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene Denton Vincent and Harvey S. Vincent; and his grandparents, Stella Denton Eakins and Frederick J. Eakins, M.D.
Jim was born in Los Angeles, California, on September 30, 1943. He spent his early childhood in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, and came to his grandparents' home in Robards, Kentucky, with his mother at age 11. He graduated from Henderson County High School in 1961 and pursued studies in mechanical engineering at Henderson Community College and the University of Evansville.
Jim started his career in the plastics industry in 1964 as a mold designer and tooling engineer at Cyanede Plastics in Henderson, Kentucky. During his 17-year tenure, he became Vice President and General Manager of Cyanede Plastics.
Jim founded Vincent Industrial Plastics in Henderson, Kentucky, in January of 1981. VIP operated for 29 years in Henderson, employing more than 300 people at its peak production. Jim eventually retired in 2018 after working for 54 years in the plastics industry. He was an active member of the Society of Plastics Engineers for over 50 years, including serving as the President of the Tristate Section. He was also an active member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and the American Society of Quality.
He served on multiple boards in the community and took various leadership roles. Jim's contributions and services included the Henderson Rotary Club (Paul Harris Fellow), the Henderson Chamber of Commerce (Vice Chairman of Economic Development), the Boy Scouts of America (District Chair), Junior Achievement (President), Henderson Community College Foundation, Henderson YMCA Board of Directors, and Henderson Municipal Power and Light Board of Directors. Beyond his local community, he was a Kentucky Colonel and NRA benefactor life member.
Jim served for multiple years on the Community Methodist Hospital Board of Directors. He continued to serve on the Henderson Deaconess Hospital Board of Directors following the acquisition of Community Methodist Hospital by the Deaconess Health System.
Jim was raised in the Methodist church, spending his childhood and part of adulthood as a member of the Robards Methodist Church. In his later years, he was an active member of First United Methodist Church, where he served on various committees and boards to support the church.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, boat, fish, and spend time on his farms. He was passionate about woodland preservation and management. As a member of the American Chestnut Foundation, he worked with arborists from around the country to breed a new species of blight-resistant American Chestnut tree. Jim was actively involved with the Kentucky Woodland Owners Association as a member and board member. Locally, he served on the board of the Friends of Audubon.
Jim enjoyed traveling and seeing the world. He was insistent that no place in the world was as beautiful as Kentucky, "God's country" as he always called it. One of his greatest pleasures later in life was when the house was full of his sons and their families. He would sit for hours and listen to whatever stories his grandchildren had to share with him.
A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2026, at First United Methodist Church, 338 Third Street, Henderson, Kentucky 42420.
