James R. Midgett, 82, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Monday, January 13, 2025, at Redbanks Nursing Home.

He was an avid classic car enthusiast who had a passion for restoring vehicles.  Jim owned and operated Hinton Body Shop and also worked at Dempewolf Ford and C & M Body Shop.  He was a devout Pentecostal who faithfully attended church three times a week.  Jim was a great father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved to tell stories.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benson and Gladys Midgett; two brothers, Bobby Midgett and Donnie Midgett; and one sister, Josie Williams.

Survivors include two children, Kimmie Bumpus and her husband, Dwayne, and Tim Midgett of Henderson, Kentucky; one sister, Linda Cobel of Madisonville, Kentucky; three grandchildren, James Bingemer, Wesley Midgett and his wife, Betty, and Holly Neel and her husband, Patrick; three great-grandchildren and one on the way, Promise Bingemer, Charlee Neel and Preslee Neel; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.  The Reverend Tim Shockley will officiate.  Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
