James R. "J.R." Stanley, Sr., 88, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away at 11:35 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2016, at St. Anthony's Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center.

He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. He was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Bootz Manufacturing in Evansville, Indiana, after 42 years. J.R. enjoyed racing thoroughbreds with his wife, Beatrice.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Beatrice Loney Stanley; one daughter, Reba Grossman and her husband, Carl, of Spottsville, Kentucky; one son, James R. "J.R." Stanley, Jr., and his wife, Terri, of Baskett, Kentucky; one sister, Florence Brooks of Henderson, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Amy Grossman, Tanya Benton, and Jenna Graham; three great-grandchildren, McKenzie Harris, Kaleb Phillips, and Nora Benton; one great-great-grandchild, Gavin Cantley; nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. Father Larry McBride will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery with full military rites performed by American Legion Worsham Post No. 40.

Visitation will be noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church or St. Anthony's Hospice.

Pallbearers will be Ben Johnston, Jack Hancock, Kaleb Phillips, Carl Grossman, Jason Benton, and David Graham.
