Forwood "Buck" Hargis, 93, of Henderson, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord at 6:26 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Western Kentucky Veterans Center Roosevelt Unit in Hanson, Kentucky.

He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.  Buck was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.  He was a licensed mechanic for many years having owned several garages, owned and operated home improvement businesses, and bought and sold real estate.  He was family oriented.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Ann Hargis; his parents, Fred and Viola Toone Hargis; two sisters, Joyce Newman and Iva Dennis; and two brothers, Fred Hargis, Jr., and W.T. Hargis.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Scott and her husband, Ray, of Henderson and Kathy Niehaus of Evansville; six sons, Eugene Hargis and his wife, Diane, of Russellville, Kentucky, Fred Hargis and his wife, Sheila, of Henderson, Wayne Hargis and his wife, Sherri, of Henderson, Tom Hargis and his wife, Karen, of Louisville, Bob Hargis and his wife, Erna, of Henderson, and Cliff Hargis of Henderson; one sister, Lois Green of Henderson; one brother, Harold Hargis of Henderson; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. Father Anthony J. Shonis will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery with full military rites performed by American Legion Worsham Post No. 40.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to American Legion Worsham Post No. 40 Honor Guard or Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.
