Obituary

Emily Kathryn Sohne Wooldridge, age 96, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away at 10:30 pm, on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at St. Anthony's Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center.

"Kay" as she liked to be called, was born on November 28, 1924, in Crofton, Kentucky.  She graduated from Dawson Springs High School, and after continuing her education at Kentucky Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, she was a WW2 nurse at Nichols General Army Hospital in Louisville.  It was there that she met her future husband and father of her children, William "Bill" Sohne, III, who was being treated for and recovering from injuries sustained in Europe.

Kay was a long-time member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Henderson and Myrtle Springs Baptist Church in Hooks, Texas.  She loved music of all types, enjoyed playing the organ, and watched Kentucky Basketball whenever possible.  Kay was proud of her nursing career, retiring as an RN after 40 years.  In 2014, she was selected to participate in The Honor Flight Network which provides transportation to military veterans to see their respective memorials in Washington, D.C.  Most of all, Kay was a devoted and caring mother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Katie West; her husband of 37 years, William Sohne III; the second love of her life, husband George Wooldridge; and her son, Charles Sohne of Austin, Texas.

Survivors include her sons, William Sohne, IV (Daisy) of Hooks, Texas, and Lawrence Sohne of Henderson, Kentucky; her daughter, Nancy Parker (Doug) of Rochester, Washington; her sister, Barbara Brady Brinkley of Henderson, Kentucky; her nephew, Ed Brady of Henderson, Kentucky; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at a later date where Kay will be buried beside her husband, Bill, in Texas.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice, 2410 South Green Street, Henderson, Kentucky 42420.
