Emily Jane Bridges, 88, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Redbanks Nursing Home Hospice Unit.

She was born in Eldorado, Illinois, on October 7, 1935, to the late George and Johanna Wargel.  Emily was a faithful member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.  She was a beloved farm wife and devoted her life to her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, James T. Bridges, who died July 19, 2000; three sisters, Virginia Hobbs, Shirley Wolf, and Lillian Miller; and five brothers, Paul Wargel, James Wargel, Donald Wargel, Fred Wargel, and Larry Wargel.

Survivors include her son, Steve Bridges and his wife, Rosemary, of Henderson, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Cory Bridges and his wife, Emily, Emma Bridges, and Abby Polivick and her husband, Jake, all of Henderson, Kentucky; four great-grandchildren, Ella, Hayden, Jack, and soon to arrive Maggie Bridges; two sisters, Mary Ruth Rabe of Baker, Montana, and Linda Wargel of Eldorado, Illinois; two sisters-in-law, Johnsie Wargel of Eldorado, Illinois, and Mary Cheaney and her husband, Lewis, of Henderson, Kentucky; two brothers-in-law, Ralph Bridges and his wife, Faye, of Henderson, Kentucky, and Jerry Bridges and his wife, Sally, of Vienna, Virginia; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2024, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.  Father Richard Meredith will officiate.  Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.

Contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Hospice.

Pallbearers will be Cory Bridges, Jake Polivick, Leo O'Nan, Tanner Martin, Tom Newcom, and Jerry Wargel.

The family is thankful for the care Emily received at Colonial Assisted Living on Adams, St. Anthony's Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center, Redbanks Nursing Home, Dr. Scott Watkins, and Dr. Garah Wright.
