Emalene Abell Spaulding, 91, of Henderson, Kentucky, died at 4 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh, Indiana.

She was a member of the former Immanuel Baptist Temple, where she belonged to the Lydia Sunday School Class.  She graduated in 1944 from Corydon High School.  Emalene worked for Dr. John S. Newman for 30 years and retired as a pharmacy technician from Methodist Hospital.  She was also a past member of Professional Business Women's Organization and enjoyed gardening.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Connie's father, Wilburn Cates; her parents, Otho and Claudie Abell; and one sister, Lorene A. Royster.

Survivors include one daughter, Connie Cates Jobes and her husband, Bob, of Evansville, Indiana; one sister, Nancy A. Clark and her husband, Bob, of Henderson, Kentucky; two granddaughters, Danielle S. Ward of Newburgh, Indiana, and Sarah E. Gish of Kentucky; two great-granddaughters, McKendree Ward and Madison Ward;  one niece, Janice Avery; and cousins.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.  Pastor Don Gray will officiate.  Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole, Kentucky.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
