Obituary

Eleanor Buley Merritt, 86, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Methodist Hospital.

She was born October 16, 1930.  She was of Pentecostal faith but attended Mt. Zion Church, a loving and caring church of wonderful people.  Eleanor worked at General Electric and M.P.D., Inc., of Owensboro, Kentucky, for 40 ½ years.

Eleanor left on a trip and will not be returning.  She loved to travel and visited all 50 states and several foreign countries, including Israel twice, Rome, Paris, and so many beautiful places which God allowed her to see.  But she never walked on a street of gold until June 13, 2017.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Yolonda Gayle Merritt; her parents, Robert and Mary Thompson Buley; three sisters, Betty White, Erman Bugg, and Ethel Smith; and two brothers, Howard Buley and Robert Buley.

Eleanor is survived by nieces and nephews, including her special nephew, Ron Bugg and his wife, Judy, of Henderson, Kentucky; her niece and caretaker, Brenda Cooper of Evansville, Indiana; and her great-nephew, Jimmy Rhineburger of Owensboro, Kentucky.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. Brother Bill Skipworth and Brother Henry Meredith will officiate.  Burial will be in Mt Zion Cemetery in Reed, Kentucky.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Hospice.
