Dorothy Ann
“Dot” Summers
Oct 14, 1930 — Dec 25, 2021
Henderson
Dorothy Ann "Dot" Summers, 91, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, Christmas Day December 25, 2021, at Redbanks Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree, Kentucky.
Dot was born in Henderson, Kentucky, on October 14, 1930, to the late Martin and Chloe Coomes Summers. After graduating from Holy Name High School in 1948, she went to work as a teller at First National Bank in Henderson, where she eventually led the proof department. After 44 years of service to the bank, she tried to retire. However, retirement was not for Dorothy Ann and she went back to work at several local banks on a part time basis. Dot was a lifelong Hendersonian, a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, and a longtime member of the Holy Name Altar Society.
Dot loved Kentucky basketball, fashion, a good cup of coffee, and something sweet. You could catch her and her sister Delores on most days at Ralph's sipping coffee or in Evansville hitting "the shops" in search of a bargain. The thing she loved the most, though, was all of the "kids" Aunt Dot and Aunt Delores spoiled and continue to spoil.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two older brothers, James "Jack" Summers and Thomas "Kitty" Summers.
Survivors include her sister, Frances Delores Summers of Henderson, Kentucky; three nephews; six nieces; nine great-nephews; five great-nieces; fourteen great-great-nephews; four great-great-nieces; and one great-great-nephew.
Dot was the gold standard for what it means to be an aunt. She and Delores have spent their lives doting on four generations of nieces and nephews. Dot's legacy lives on through each of them.
Services will be at noon Friday, December 31, 2021, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Father Larry McBride will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.
Contributions may be made to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church or St. Vincent DePaul Society.
Pallbearers will be Brad Summers, Marty Summers, Benjamin Davis, Matthew Burton, Will Summers, Jackson Summers, and James McCarter.
Special thanks to Redbanks Colonial Terrace Nursing Home for the wonderful care they gave Dot during her time there.
