Dorothy F. (Bryant) Lindsey, age 85, of Marion, Illinois, formerly of Spottsville, Kentucky, died at 12:25 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016, at her home surrounded by family.

She was born November 27, 1930, in Calvert City, Kentucky, the daughter of Ethel and Dee Bryant.

Dorothy graduated from Calhoun Kentucky High School and Henderson Community College - School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse for almost 40 years at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, and Community Methodist Hospital in Henderson, Kentucky. She was a founding member of New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence McClellan Lindsey, whom she married in 1947; her father, Ethel Bryant; her mother, Frances Deobra Stone Bryant Martin; one sister, Winona Bryant; and two brothers, Calvin Bryant and Carmen Bryant.

She is survived by her three children, Winona Lindsey Pelo (Scott) of Marion, Illinois, Larry Lindsey (Karen) of Elgin, Illinois, and Tonya Lindsey (Patsy) of Marion, Illinois; six grandchildren, Stacia Shemwell Sheelar (Mike), Jessica Pelo Grohler (Randy), Jeremy Lindsey (Rachel), Heidi Lindsey McDevitt (Colby), Heather Lindsey Strycker (Kyle), and Emily Lindsey Booth (Dan); nine great-grandchildren: Kayla Sheelar, Hunter Barlow, Josiah Lindsey, Micah Lindsey, Kayleia Lindsey, Zekiah Lindsey, Wren Strycker, Flint Strycker, and Thorn Strycker; one brother, Weldon Mauzy; one sister, Linda Ryan; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at New Beginnings Missionary Church in Henderson. The Reverend Don Haire will officiate. Burial will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery in McLean County, Kentucky.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, 604 Center Street, Henderson, Kentucky 42420.
