Carolyn Ann Whitmore, 81, of Robards, Kentucky, was born into eternal life on November 11, 2020.

She was born August 27, 1939, in Henderson, Kentucky, to the late Thomas William Gaines, Sr., and Emma Scheffer Gaines.  Carolyn graduated from Holy Name High School in 1957, and in August of 1957, she married the love of her life, the late Donald R. Whitmore, who passed away July 23, 2009.  She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was also preceded in death by one daughter, Shannon Roland, who passed away February 14, 2003; two infant sons, Gary Alan Whitmore and Curtis Lee Whitmore; and her brother, Thomas W. Gaines, Jr., who passed away November 10, 2015.

Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Laveta Daniel and her husband, Chris, of Robards, Kentucky, with whom Carolyn lived; one sister, Donna Hecht and her husband, Larry, of Defiance, Missouri; five grandchildren, Chelsea Daniel Hooper and her husband, Jason, Holly Roland, and Nathan Daniel, all of Robards, Kentucky, Scott Roland of Evansville, Indiana, and Isaac Daniel of Auburn, Alabama; two great-grandchildren whom she loved very much, Emma Daniel and Luke Hooper; her son-in-law, Jon Roland of Robards, Kentucky; her sister-in-law, Sandra Wedding and her husband, Dick, of The Villages, Florida; nieces and nephews.

Carolyn's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of St. Anthony's Hospice for their compassion and care.

Services will be at noon Monday, November 16, 2020, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.  Father Larry McBride will officiate.  Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Monday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.
