Carl Wayne
West
Aug 4, 1938 — May 20, 2023
Henderson
Our Shepherd
Carl Wayne West was born August 4, 1938, in McLean County, Kentucky, to his parents, Mack and Nina, and sister, Dorothy. He attended Henderson County High School and then went into the National Guard. In 1962, Wayne met the love of this life, Sue, at Ft. Stewart in Hinesville, Georgia. The two were inseparable and raised a pair of beautiful girls, Kim and Karla.
For more than four decades, Wayne worked at The Whirlpool Corporation, but his real passion was farming and tending to horses. He lived most of his life at the farm off Highway 351, where he cared for livestock through his final days. His two son-in-laws, Steve and Todd, and four grandchildren, Miles, Hunter, Jenna and Carlie, formed countless memories there with Wayne. He was an avid lover of Elvis Presley, Gunsmoke, and John Wayne, a patriot and steward of America, a member of Henderson Area Riding Club, a selfless volunteer, a devout churchgoer at First United Methodist, and a man of unbridled faith.
Wayne passed at 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, 5/20. The digits add to 17, a sacred number with an important message: it's time to let go of something holding you back. Wayne was the shepherd of his family. He was deeply loved and admired by all who knew him. The Higher Shepherd called him to the next pasture the night of May 20th because it was time for Wayne to receive everlasting peace. He will forever be cherished, honored, and carried in our hearts.
We love you dearly.
