Obituary

Allen Ray Morris, 89, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

Born May 21, 1937, in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, to James and Anna Belle Morris, Allen was the youngest of seven children. He grew up with a strong work ethic, quick wit, and a personality that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

On October 12, 1956, he married the love of his life, Patricia Phillips, beginning a marriage that spanned nearly 70 years and created a lifetime of memories. He often shared the story of how he met his beloved wife, thanking Ms. Wiggins, who seated him next to Patricia in study hall when he was misbehaving. That simple moment began a love story that lasted a lifetime.

Allen retired in 1985 as a Foreman and Superintendent with Iron Workers Local 103. Throughout his career, he worked on numerous projects across the region and beyond, including the southbound bridge connecting Evansville and Henderson, as well as work at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. He took great pride in his craftsmanship and the men he worked alongside.

Allen built more than steel structures during his career, he built relationships and earned the respect of those around him. Known for his strong opinions, attention to detail, and natural leadership, he was never shy about explaining the "right way" to do something. Those closest to him understood that behind his tough exterior was a generous heart and a deep willingness to help others.

Following retirement, Allen and Pat became well known through Morris Antiques and the Henderson Antique Mall. Allen loved the thrill of the hunt, whether searching flea markets, attending auctions, or uncovering a hidden treasure in an antique shop. He especially enjoyed the friendships and connections that came from years in the antique business.

Allen was a dedicated card player who enjoyed both in-person games and playing online. The sound of him shuffling and dealing a deck of cards was familiar to those who loved him. While he was a fierce competitor at the card table, his favorite part was the camaraderie, conversation, and time spent with family and friends.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Ruth Morris; his children, Philip Morris (Carole), David Morris (Debbie), and Sarah Courtney (John); his grandchildren, Melissa Woods (Josh), Sean Morris (Sarah), Rebecca Morris, Bryce Courtney, and Liam Morris; two great grandchildren; Allyn Morris and Chuck Morris; along with extended family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughters, Meghan Morris and Kelsey Morris; his parents; and six siblings.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers—Shelley, Jaylen, Lauren, Tammy, Kari, Glenda, Shelby, and Kellee—as well as his hospice nurse, Lindsay, the hospice team, and Dr. Futrell for their compassionate care.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home in Henderson, with services beginning at 1:00 p.m.  His nephew, John Galyen, Senior Pastor at First Baptist, Greenville, Kentucky, will officiate the service.

The family invites all who knew Allen to join them in celebrating his life and sharing memories. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and friendship will live on in all who knew him.
