Obituary

On May 19, 2016, God called home one of his angels, Alexander Christian Harpole, 16, of Henderson.

Alex touched so many lives while here on earth. He never met a stranger and always greeted everyone with his contagious smile, love, hugs, and occasionally a "secret." Alex accomplished so much in his short amount of time here on earth. He was the National Spokesperson for the Epilepsy Foundation in Washington, D.C., participated in several Epilepsy Foundation of Kentuckiana Walks where he raised thousands of dollars for others living with epilepsy in Kentucky, participated in the Epilepsy Foundation of Kentuckiana's Expression of Hope Gala, had a team climb Mt. Everest in honor of him and his service dog, Ladybird, and was even featured in a children's book along with his Ladybird. Alex's legacy will live on forever in everyone's hearts.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Judy Peppers; his maternal great-grandfathers, Billy Gatten and the Reverend Richard Shockley; his paternal great-grandparents, Olivia and Joseph Hirsch and George and Marion Harpole.

Survivors include his parents, Paul and Carrie Harpole; one brother, Aiden Harpole; one sister, Ava Harpole; his service dog, Ladybird; his maternal grandparents, Rick and Pattie Shockley; his paternal grandparents, Larry Peppers, Roger Harpole, and Lori O'Connell; maternal great-grandparents, Betty Gatten and Elva Shockley; aunts and uncles, Chad and April Shockley, Jerrod and Caty Thomas, Trethany and Harold Snider, and Eric and Monique Harpole; and several loving cousins.

Services will be at noon Monday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. The Reverend Heath Farmer will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Andy Richmond, Kirby Moser, Darby O'Nan, Dan Givens, Gentry Miley, Luke Hanley, Cameron Hanley, and Conner Book.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brennen Henderson, Jacob Pierson, Addison Watson, Kody Duncan, Emily Samples, Mary Beth Samples, Jax Hagan, and Makayla Carter.

Contributions may be made to Riverview School, Epilepsy Foundation of Kentucky, 982 Eastern Parkway, Louisville, Kentucky, 40217, or 4 Paws for Ability, 253 Dayton Avenue, Xenia, Ohio 45385.

The family requests that everyone dress in Alex's favorite color, BLUE.
